Product Description
The 3DIO Omni Pro II binaural microphone is a high-quality professional binaural microphone comprising eight DPA 4060BU microphone capsules embedded inside four pairs of prosthetic ears. Each pair of ears is positioned at 90 degrees from the adjacent pair to provide a single point, 4-position binaural perspective of any audio environment allowing users to capture sound just as we would naturally hear it and enable you to pinpoint the sound location in space.
Each of the Omni Pro’s 8 prosthetic ears contains a matched 5.4mm diameter DPA 4060BU hi-sensitivity microphone capsule. These capture stereo binaural audio from 4 different directions – 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees – corresponding to the 4 different binaural angles (ear pairs) around the microphone and capture sound just as we would naturally hear it and enable you to pinpoint the sound location in space. The Omni Pro delivers a very sensitive and natural binaural recording. The extremely low noise floor of the DPA 4060 capsules results in a very open and dynamic binaural realism, especially during very delicate recordings. This sensitivity, coupled with the wide dynamic range of the microphone capsules, makes the Omni Pro ideally suited for professional 360° camera recordings and binaural virtual reality capture. A simple volume control script (available by download) allows users to synchronise the Omni binaural audio to a 360 video during playback. Supplied complete with foam cut hard carry case.
3DIO manufacture premium quality 3D audio recording devices that are popular with professional recording engineers as well as amateur enthusiasts. Binaural recording is the process using microphones shaped like human ears to capture audio in the same way that we hear. These ears (pinnae) dramatically alter the incoming sound waves, however the human brain understands and interprets these alterations as directional cues. Furthermore, the time delay between the left and right ear gives us proper directional perception. When listening to binaural recordings with headphones, a natural three-dimensional sound gives the listener the sensation of being in the space where the audio was recorded. This makes the 3DIO binaural microphones ideal for applications such as 360 and 180 VR video and any professional recording situation where authentic sound quality is critical.
