SeeSense has teamed up with Tim Zoltie, a specialist medical photographer, videographer, and Head of Medical & Dental Illustration at The University of Leeds.
He had become increasingly frustrated with large camera jibs traditionally used for surgical videography. Without doubt they are bulky, un-manoeuvrable and above all extremely expensive pieces of equipment. What Tim wanted a good quality lightweight, adaptable and cost-effective solution that could be set up in minutes.
The system also had to be advanced enough for medical photographers but also straightforward enough for clinical technicians with limited technical knowledge to set up.
The result is OpCam.

OpCam is a custom built professional 4K surgical camera solution based around GoPro camera technology HOWEVER this camera has been modified to enable high quality interchangeable C, CS and M12 mount lenses to be attached.
THE CAMERA
The Back-Bone H12-PRO camera retains all of the electronic features of the standard GoPro product but can now accept a C-mount varifocal lens. It captures reliable, uninterrupted video up to 5.3K resolution at 60 frames per second on to a 128GB Micro SD card included in the kit.
THE LENS
A 9-90mm lens ensures that the area of interest can be perfectly framed regardless of the working distance within an operating theatre.
Operating theatre lighting permits the lens iris to be closed down to achieve an excellent depth of field. If the camera is moved slightly then the image can remain in focus!
MEDIA MOD
A GoPro Media Mod is fitted to the camera and provides the capability of streaming 1080P full high definition images directly to a monitor.
This is ideal for 1) ensuring the image is correctly set up and focussed, 2) so staff, students, etc can see a close up live view of the procedure.
MOUNT
A special mounting bracket connects the camera to the operating theatre light.
A safety chain is also included in the kit.
CABLE
We have prepared a 5 metre (standard) cable assembly which connects to external USB power and optional HDMI monitor. The cables are enclosed in a mesh tube to hold them in place.
Right angle connectors fit to the Media Mod and ensure that the cables fit properly and do not interfere with the lighting.
POWER
A 1720mAh battery fits in the camera which can operate for 70 minutes a 5.3K/60. The camera power can be supplemented by attaching a USB-C power supply also included.

The entire system comes packed in a dedicated foam cut hard storage case. Graphite is our standard colour but we can offer nine other different colours options as required.
CONCLUSION
OpCam offers medical professionals with a simple yet superior method for capturing many forms of surgery. The image quality is incredible for such a small device and cost-effective price. Already deployed in hospitals, operating theatres, veterinary surgeries, etc.
