The CamDo Underwater WiFi Extension Cables permit an action camera’s 2.4  GHz WiFi and Bluetooth signal to be extended underwater.  This means that users can perform any normal remote control function such as controlling the cameras or viewing a live preview using the camera’s App.

No direct connection is required to a camera, Apple or Android product however the modules at each end of the cable must be mounted in close proximity to surface and underwater devices to work. As the interface is wireless, the camera’s underwater housing remains un-compromised and so the system can operate down to the specified operational depth of the housing.

The cables are currently available from SeeSense in 7, 15 and 38 metre lengths.

The CamDo Underwater WiFi Extension Cable attaches to the “2pin action camera pivot mount” of a waterproof camera housing.  Its operating depth is only restricted by the performance of the underwater housing.  The last portion of the cable is capable of being split at the surface end to allow it to pass through a bulkhead.

Experience shows us that the WiFi signals will decay over 50m and this is why we do not stock the 90m cable.  This is not a big issue unless there are other stronger WiFi signals around which could be detected by the surface device.  It is also prudent to occasionally test the housing underwater without the camera installed.
