Underwater Camera Solution for Swimming Clubs

Despite not having a local pool in which to train, the Kežmarok Little Sharks is a successful swimming club able to compete at a national level. The trainers wanted to be able to use a GoPro camera underwater to record the swimmers’ technique in order to improve performance.  However they complained that as soon as the camera went underwater they lost connection with the GoPro Quik application!  This is a common problem since it is impossible for WiFi to transmit any distance underwater.

The SeeSense solution was to supply a 7m CamDo Solutions underwater WiFi cable along with a GoPro dive housing for extra safety.  The cable features an adapter that utilises the standard GoPro mounting system.  The camera can be attached to the mounting adapter with or without the dive housing.

A Bushman Monopod and Bender was also supplied so the camera could be positioned and held still at the desired angle to film the swimmers underwater.

The CamDo Solutions underwater cable is a unique and professional solution to this WiFi problem.  They work with pretty much any action camera fitted with the blade type GoPro mount.

The cables are available in lengths of 7, 15 and 38m and include an adapter bracket to enable a camera to the cable along with a means of attaching the assembly to a tripod, monopod or any other device.   The camera’s WiFi must be set to operate at 2.4 GHz since the cable is designed to work at this frequency and NOT 5.6 GHz.  Both the camera and the surface device (tablet, telephone, etc) positioned as close as feasibly possible to the upper and lower terminal boxes.

The GoPro is also perfect for these applications since it is a low cost, small and lightweight camera and capable of recording video quality in excess of 4K resolution.  They also feature built-in power and recording making the system much simpler to operate underwater. Control of the camera is achieved by using the standard GoPro Quik application (or any other app) and then allows users to remotely control the camera as well as see live images.
